Taliny Chhung is a ceramic artist and sculptor. She was born in Reseda, California to a Cambodian father and Thai mother. Following her parents' wish, she entered the world of banking and financial consulting after receiving her degree in Business and Finance at the University of California in Riverside.

In 2015, she visited a world-renowned Vedic Astrologer, Chakrapani, who urged her to become an artist. Following a terrible accident in 2018, she enrolled in a pottery class at Barnsdall Art Center. Eschewing traditional methods, she took a Brookstone steak knife and began carving away.

Taliny’s work in ceramics began as an exploration of objects, what Taliny calls ‘flowers’. Her sculptural vessels and monumental planters, brutalist in manner, offer an array of material associations, ranging from meringue to manure. Her methods are additive and subtractive and her process is guided by instinct.

She works out of her studio at AMOCA in Pomona, California and lives in Los Angeles with her husband and three children.
